On Friday I saw the Decemberists for the third time with DancingFish. It was a great time spent on a rainy night in Philadelphia!
On Saturday, I saw Mutlu and Amos Lee. Also another grand time on yet another rainy night in Philadelphia.
I noticed something during both concerts and I feel that I must speak out about it:
There were many, many people taking flash photos during each of the shows.
Now, I understand that a concert is a fun activity, and that it is nice to have a photo of the experience for future reference.
But flash photos? How will that ever work out well?
I'm no professional photographer, but I have a feeling that most of those people got really great shots of the back of the heads of the people in front of them, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of the stage. Plus, it is annoying (to me in the audience, and likely also to the performers) to see all the flashes going off every 5 minutes.
So, my friendly soapbox advice would be to turn off the flash! And, if possible, use a night setting and stabilize the camera against a fence or wall or something, you won't be disappointed (zoom is good too).
Mutlu

Amos Lee (& Band)

I must admit a personal flash bias though, I try to avoid using the flash whenever possible.
