home sweet home (for now)

I know that when most of you think about the life of a graduate student, you are filled with envy. You think, "Oh, the glitz, the glamour, the travel to exotic destinations, it must be a life filled with constant excitement and oozing luxury. Oh, how I wish I could be a graduate student for just one day!!!".

And with the place I am staying now, I can see why you would think that. Check it out:

new living space cozy sleep

Spacious, ain't it? It's right across the hall from the common bathroom, prime location.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks ass.

But, since I try to look on the bright side to such things, it does have some perks:
free high speed internet access
free laundry

and that's it.

Oh! I have a big brown eight-legged roomate, I've named him Stu, he hangs out in a web in the corner by the window. Due to my Australian spiders and snakes policy*, I am just leaving him be..for now.

Luckily, I found a house/cat/dog-sitting gig for half of december and the first part of January, so I will have respite from the dorm life. Then, I'll come back here until the end of January when....when...well..I'm not sure yet. I have to leave the dorm because they have to prepare for the fall semester which starts the first week of March. And, as of this moment, I don't have a place lined up for Febuary yet. But I am working on it! (So, if you know of anyone in the Melbourne area who has a room or flat available for short term, let me know)

*Australia has the deadliest spiders and snakes in the world, and I have no idea which ones they are, so I leave them all alone, just to be safe
