blah, or, life isn't always flowers and sausages

What a crappy day.

The test that I was doing this week didn't work, and I don't know what the hell I did wrong, so I don't know how to fix it. Gah! I can't see anything that I am doing differently from the other people doing the same tests and thiers work perfectly. Ugh!

And, my merely 2-month old fruity mp3 player (wink, wink) has decided that it only plays sound out of the left earphone when it feels like it. And NO, it's not the earphones, I tried them on other things and they worked fine, and I tried a new set of earphones and the same problem occured (funnily enough, if I plug the earphones in only halfway, sound comes from both ears).

I called customer support and was woefully disatisfied. Why is it that whenever I call one of these lines I just don't feel like the person on the other end is listening to me?

If I am having issues with the sound output to the headphones, could it really be a software issue? Really?

I don't know about that, but OK, lets completely reset the player, erasing all the music and I will spend the better part of this evening reloading it and then tomorrow when the sound cuts out of my left ear after 20 minutes, I'll go to the web site and print out a form and send my player in for proper repair.

I just would have prefered for them to say, "Oh, yes, we are aware of that problem, it has happened to others, and we know exactly how to fix it. Send it on in and we will get that taken care of pretty lady, and thanks for shopping with us."

We'll see what happens.

Crap annoying day today. And the fact that all my friends who make me feel better after a crap annoying day are on the other side of the world where it is like 4am so I can't call and vent to them live makes it even crappier.

At least it's Friday. I think taking the dog for a walk, a nice glass of wine, and being able to sleep in tomorrow will do me a world of good.

Sorry to hear of your crap day! I hope it gets better soon... your music maker should be alright- they really aren't too bad to deal with and I know many who have sent them in with and had great, fast service.

Hope you feel better soon...

I miss you.
I'm sorry that you're having such a bad time with your music. I remember how tragic it was for me when all my CDs were stolen when I was in the field a few summers ago. Sometimes it seems the only thing that connects you to your 'real' life is familiar music.
Good luck...

Laura,

Your mp3 player problem... It sounds like your headphone jack has a loose connection or a short. Yes, in the 21st century these problems still exist. Try plugging your headphone all the way to the end, and then moving it around a bit. If sound comes in and out it is definitely a bad output jack. If the fruitpod wasn't sealed it would be a breeze to fix.

I hope they don't make you delete your Unpronounceable MP3s. Take care,

Fede

:-( do they have a company store near you anywhere? when mine has weird problems, i take it to the store and they replace it for me right then ($30 fee, but still not bad).

hope things get better soon.

Thank you all for your sympathy and advice! It's good to know that I still have people to lean on through the magic of the computer inter-web-nets! Turns out there is a store relatively closeby (a few metro stops away), so I'm going to take it in this week and have them take a look at it and fix or replace it!
