I think last week was dominated by reds, so this week I changed it up a little:
Tyrrell's wines - 2005 Verdelho - This is a new type of wine for me. The label said it was meant to be light and sweet, good with fruits and salads. I thought that description was accurate. It was a sweet wine, but not too sweet. It was also very light, almost tasteless light. It was OK, but nothing special. Tyrrell's are on the low end of the price scale, so I am curious to try a more expensive verdhelo and see what that tastes like.
Morning Sun Vineyard - 2003 Pinot Grigio - I picked this up at the Mordialloc wine and food festival last week. Very nice. It has a good blend of oakiness and creaminess.

Have you tried any Yalumba? We sell all their stuff at the restaurant where I work and it is awesome. People freakin' love that shit.

I am becoming increasingly curious about the whole Australian wine experience. They seem to have so many varietals, which means: so many bottles, so little time. Do you know if any good port wines are made there?

JayAre - Yalumba actually is pretty good! And here, well, it comes in a box.
There is bottle Yalumba, but also lots of Yalumba boxed wine. I've had their Shiraz and Unwooded Chardonnay, but it was before I started Wines of the Week. Do you get it in a box at the restaurant? THAT would be hilarious!
You and Mark should totally move out here, especially once I relocate here!
federico - I have only tried one Australian Port, and it wasn't too shabby, but it was from a small winery and wasn't set to be released until next Christmas. A few places make a fortified Shiraz, which is shiraz with straight ethanol added to it, and it is actually quite good, but it is also rare.
