My NEW favorite band!!!

Oh, it's true.

I found a new favorite band here in Australia. It pains me to say it, but it's true. I still love the Unpronounceable dearly, but I love the new guys more.

They are called The Cat Empire. I find their music to be a mix of latin, jazz, and funk. It's fun, energetic, and ever so sexy. It is impossible to listen to their music without smiling and moving (either dancing, or having a little extra spring in my step).

There are two other reasons why I love this band so much:
1) They have a horn section. I love a band that has some brass to it! When they are playing live, they move in unison to the music!
2) One singer's name is Felix! Felix is my favorite name! Yay Felix!

Did I mention that they are also gorgeous?

It is a big group, with two singers, a DJ, a drummer, a piano player (who is so into his music, it's great to watch him jam), a guitarist, a bassist, and, of course, the horn section. I believe that most of the guys in the band hail from Melbourne, and the city is mentioned quite a bit in their music. They are a local legend, and I was lucky enough to see them live when they played a month of Sundays at the Prince Bandroom.

The show was amazing, everyone was dancing and singing and jumping around like crazy people. So. Much. Fun. By the end of the night I had danced so much that my pigtails were wet with sweat. I know that's kind of gross, but I want to give you the most realistic idea of the energy level possible. It's just so much...fun.

I talked to the bass player after the show, I asked "When are you coming to the U.S., you HAVE TO COME TO THE U.S.?" And sure enough, they're coming! They'll be at Bonaroo and a festival in Kansas, as well as some shows in California (Sparkle, they'll be in SF, you should check them out!), the midwest, and New York City!

I got my tickets for the NYC show this morning! Yay!

Did I mention that they are also gorgeous?

Check out their website, read about the band, listen to some of their downloads.

Isn't this a bit like adultery? Part of me feels like I need to tell The Unpronouncable....

Somehow I don't think they'd mind so much. I reckon they just want me to be happy, no matter who my favorite band in the world is. Besides, they are still my favorite U.S. band!
