too early

One of the disadvantages of being dependent upon public transportation is that I often know well ahead of time that I am going to be late.

Today was a busy day, there was an early seminar, then my first farewell lunch *sob* and then a goal to be in the city for a comedy show at 7 all mixed with getting important lab work done as well.

But, the lunch was an hour away by car (someone gave me a lift), and I had to also get stuff done in the lab.

So all day I am racing, racing, racing to be done and in the city by 7pm.

As I step onto the 6pm train, the one that would get me to the venue with JUST enough time to spare, I checked my ticket.

The show didn't start until 8:15! I had looked at the wrong ticket this morning when I got the 7pm time.

And, to top it all off, the comedian I went to see had to cancel due to a family emergency, so I didn't even get to see the act for which I was apparently rushing to be early. (They did have another act to replace him and also refunded the ticket, so it wasn't too shabby in the end. free comedy!)

It made reading sparkle's bad poetry thursday give me an eerie feeling of coincidence.
