egg and meat and cheese....and meat and cheese

When I first returned to my apartment after 6 months in Australia, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was. I mean, I have a vague recollection of much worry and work going into cleaning the place before I left, but it had been quite a while.

I put my suitcases on the floor in the living room and headed to the bathroom since it had been a bit of a drive from the airport and I have taken to drinking lots of water.

As I lifted the lid of the toilet seat, something fluttered into the toilet. I looked down and there was a little picture of the Burger King floating there.

I smiled, because my friends know how I feel about the burger king* and I was touched at the prank.

"How funny," I thought, "they put a picture of the king in the house where they knew I would find it right away. Those guys! Aw"

Then I sat down, looked up, and saw this:

Uh oh.

I checked the cabinet, and sure enough, there was another king, smiling at me.

I thought "Oh my god, they're everywhere." and immediately started laughing hysterically.

Of course, I had to see how many I could find.

As it was about 2:30am, I couldn't call my friends (Jeff S., Sweeney, and Angrynerdsrock were the perpetrators), and congratulate them on a job well done and for making my worries about being lonely when I got back vanish.

The next day I found out that there were 36 kings in various places around the apartment.

Some I had found right away, like the ones on the bulletin boards, the fridge, in the microwave and in the freezer.

But others I didn't see until later. Like this one that was watching me take a shower:

I've been back for 19 days and I have found 29 of the 36 kings.

Invariably I find them when I am doing something while talking on the phone to someone, and I have to explain why I just started laughing in the middle of the sentence.

So far my favorites were the one in my welding glove (used for getting hot pans out of the oven) and the one that is in my roll of paper towels (I see the faint outline of the picture on the roll, I reckon it's about 10 towels away from being freed from it's strong and absorbent prison).

I love my friends. Thanks for making me feel missed!

* I haven't mentioned it in this blog, but I had mentioned it in the old one here and here, but that Burger King just FREAKS me out. Too creepy!
