Warning! Lake Squid! (Best Vacation Ever, Day 1)

Did you know that every year, at least one person may believe that there could be a giant ferocious squid* living in Lake Granbury in Granbury, Texas?

It's a fact.

Maybe.

On the first day of my Best Vacation Ever, my dearest friend (and the sanest person I know) and I spent the late afternoon cooling off in Lake Granbury.

Unfortunately, the good times would end in a trip to the emergency room.

Now, some** would say that sanestperson jumped from the boat into knee-deep opaque water thinking it was waist-deep opaque water, resulting in a painful foot injury.

I, on the other hand, maintain that we were out on the lake minding our own business when there was a rumbling from the deep. Suddenly, a tentacled arm reached up and grabbed sanestperson by the foot, dragging her off of the boat and under the water!! I dove into the water, and armed only with my trusty bowie knife (I always take it on marine adventures) battled the leviathan until it released its mighty grip on my friend. A swift kick to it's giant black eye sealed its defeat and it retreated into the depths to nurse its wounded arms and pride.

We made it back to the boat, drove home, and proceeded to the emergency room where we spent the next four hours decompressing from the ordeal, chatting, and coloring. Some*** would say that her foot was only badly sprained and that a few days on crutches and some darvoset will make her good as new.

I, on the other hand, maintain that the damned squid broke her foot in 3 places!!!

She'll never play piano like she used to.

All in all, it was a great first day of vacation! And it got even better!

More to come.
