What do you want to do with your life?

I WANNA ROCK!!!

This past weekend was filled with great fun and great music with Frogweiler.

On Friday, I ventured out to John and Peter's in New Hope, PA. Flooding from back in June washed out one of the main roads into New Hope, so in order to get there we had to drive to NJ, then back into PA.

The bar was pretty amazing, it was tiny and smoky and dive-y and I loved it! We were there to see Frogweiler's friend Peasant play (he was 2nd in a lineup of 4 bands that night).

We arrived while the first band, France on Fire, was playing. They had a great sound that reminded me of the Teeth, a band I used to see at my local dive bar pretty regularly until they recorded an album and became all about the big city. The music was great and I totally got a rock star crush on the guitarist...what can I say, I am a sucker for a nice smile, the abilitly to play the guitar, mandolin, and piano, and a wallet chain.
Oh, and they had kazoos! Who doesn't love kazoos?

After Peasant's set I was tired and ready to go home, but Frogweiler wanted to check out the next band, Illinois. They were my favorite band of the night for 3 reasons:
1) They sounded like a mix of Beck, The White Stripes, and Modest Mouse with a banjo thrown in!
2) They would chant "Hip Hip" and the audience would yell "Hooray!" I love that kind of energy!
3) During the songs, the guys in the band would randomly slap each other upside the head. hard. and they wouldn't miss a beat. Violence is never the answer, but sometimes it is entertaining.

It was a fun night in New Hope, I got home around 3am and that was the early night of rock and roll weekend!

The next night we went to NYC to see my favorite band in the Southern Hemisphere, the Cat Empire! They were playing a very late night show at the Speigeltent. As usual, the entire audience was dancing and singing and jumping up and down for the entire show! The show ended at 3am, and we hung around to talk to the very sexy band members for a second, and then took the long drive back to PA. I got into bed at around 5:30am, and was still wired from the fabulous show. If the Cat Empire comes to your town, go see them. Trust me, you will have fun!

ROCK!
