And now for something completely different

Dudes.

So that cough brought its friends sinus congestion and fever and chills for 5 days. I got a different and much, much more expensive antibiotics and now I am hunky-dory. But damn, that bronchitis took me down. I have never realized how tiring driving a car for 10 minutes can be or been so aware of the lack of places to sit down and have a rest at the grocery store. But now I am feeling so much better and I am frantically trying to catch up from my week of forced inactivity.

I spent most of my time while I was sick were watching TV, drinking fluids, and sleeping. Luckily, I have recently received the complete Monty Python's Flying Circus. I watched every single episode and they brought some sunshine to my otherwise bleak and snotty existence.

There are a few sketches that are slightly obscure which always make me laugh, and I often will refer to them when making jokes that no one but me really gets. Here is the short list. I will try to embed the video if possible (man, I love YouTube), but if that doesn't work, the links will show you the sketches I am talking about.

1. The Flying Sheep sketch.

I love when they ask, "But where is the baggage? Where are the travellers?" and how they put the mustache on whoever is supposed to speak. Classic! BBC America used to have a commercial for the show featuring this sketch, and then they put up the blurb, "If your girlfriend laughs at this, marry her". At the time I was engaged, so it was funny to see the commercial and nudge the fiance. But alas, even my sparkling sense of humor could not save that sinking ship.

2. Self Defense class.

There is just something about how Eric Idle says "point-ed stick" that makes me laugh out loud every time.

3. The Mattress sketch.

Every time I or anyone else I know messes up a number I want to say that they have to divide everything I say by 10, or multiply it by 3 or whatever. Sometimes when I hear the word "graduate" I want to put a bag over my head.

I really love all of the sketches, but these three have always stood out for me, and are not as "mainstream" as Silly Walks, the Lumberjack Song, Spanish Inquisition, or the Dead Parrot sketch.
