in transit (and slightly sleep-deprived)

Oh my I forgot how much I loathe LAX. I really really hate that airport. It is not well organized, it is old and busted and it smells. I am ashamed that it is the welcoming point for so many international travelers, I mean, the last thing I want after 14 hours on a plane is a crappy old smelly place.

Plus when I was trying to change in the tiny tiny public bathroom stall, my coat fell in the toilet. Ew. I was planning to throw it out anyway, just not until I got back to PA.

But having said that, I did have some celebrity sightings. My absolute favorite Aussie show, Rove, is filming two shows in the U.S. over the next 2 weeks, and everyone on the show was on my flight!! Rove McManus went through security three people ahead of me! How awesome is that?? It was a bright spot in my otherwise gloomy airport experience.

Oh, and also, David Spade was on the flight, apparently. I saw him right as I passed through customs. neat!

At the moment, I am in Phoenix, waiting for the last leg of my journey to Philly. This is one hell of a day, I mean I left Melbourne at about 11am on Monday the 16th, arrived in LA at about 8am on Monday the 16th, and now I won't get to Philly until about 11pm on Monday the 16th.

I have to say that the Phoenix airport rocks my socks off. They have currency exchange places conveniently located for people like me who need to exchange foreign currency. (LAX does not have this, I would have had to schlepp to another terminal). And, AND!!! They have free wireless internet! Woo hoo!!

Last but not least, when I entered the skybridge from the plane in Phoenix, it was like an oven!! All of the 110 in the shade glory of Phoenix in July funneled through the skybridge! It was amazing. I would have left the terminal and just sat outside, soaking up the desert heat and recharging myself like a snake on a rock, but I can't be bothered going through security AGAIN. But Yay! Summer!

LAX is like Ohare. One big crazy dump.

Oddly, your story reminded me that I ALWAYS run into people I know at the Phoenix airport. No matter where I'm going or where I've been, there is someone somewhere who I know from like a long time ago in the Phoenix airport. Bizarre.
