My new friend

So somehow I managed to strain my back this week. I think that the 2 and a half hours I spent on a repetitive task that involved bending and twisting may be the culprit.

Regardless, it could not have happened at a worse time, since I have to move this weekend.

It's actually a little funny because the last time I moved my stuff I had also hurt my back, so it seems that my lumbar vertebrae can sense that a hard task is coming up and they say 'fuck that'.

Last time I took it easy, took a Naproxen here and there when I remembered, complained and just waited it out.

This time, I'll be damned if I am unable to lift heavy things, so I have gone on the offensive. I started taking the max doses of ibuprofen and acetametophen (which I have been told by my doctor is safe to do, but don't do it at home, kids, unless you check with your doctor). And, the lovely doctor gave me Flexaril, a muscle relaxer and the best friend I have ever had that came in a child-proof bottle.

Muscle relaxers can be dangerous things, so I made sure I was home for good and done driving or operating heavy machinery before I took my first pill. At 6 I finished eating dinner and then took a pill...the rest of the night is pretty vague, I think I watched part of a movie. I am also quite sure I did something on the computer because when I woke up in the middle of the night fully clothed and with all the lights on,my laptop was open and running right next to my head (which was at the foot of the bed for some reason).

It sure knocked me out, but when I woke up at 5am and got up to take an incredibly long pee, the pain was significantly reduced. Also, the giant knots that were on either side of my lower vertebrae were much, much smaller.

I am totally kicking myself for not going to the doctor the last time I threw my back out. With the ibuprofen & acetaminophen cocktail I am taking all day and the flexeril at night, I should be back to normal again by Saturday! Yay!

At least you didn't wake up not clothed in front of the laptop and a webcam.

I took Flexeril once for a huge shuddering twitching knot in my upper back. It's good stuff.

And I've had lower back problems for years, so I'm with you, sister. Big hugs and an ice pack from me.
