Sometimes I get a little stressed out and depressed about my life. I mean, I am still in grad school, poor, childless, and painfully single. It can get to a girl sometimes.
But there is always something that, no matter how tired, stressed, or sad I may be, will always cheer me up.
And that thing is Guitar Hero.
I, II, Rocks the 80s, whichever. They all bring me joy.
I like to bring it when I play, I mean, if this game is supposed to make me feel like a rock star, I am going to play like a rock star. Except without the drug addiction and groupies*. Anyone that has played this game with me could probably attest that playing guitar hero and playing guitar hero with me are different experiences indeed.
I actually don't own any of the games or any of the systems they can be played upon (yet), but my plan is that once I turn my final (corrected and bound and everything) copy of my dissertation into the university, I am going straight to Best Buy, getting an Xbox 360 and every guitar hero game available for the system. Then, for the next couple of weeks, all I am going to do is play that game.
I was talking to some fellow students at a luncheon the other day, and as it happens, we started talking about guitar hero:
Lady: I have heard of that game, is it fun?
Me: Yes, I love it.
Lady: Oh, so you know how to play the guitar?
Me: No, I don't.
Lady: You don't have to know how to play the guitar to play Guitar Hero?
Me: No, you don't need to know how to play the guitar, you just need to know how to ROCK!
*although, I am sure I could be convinced to change my groupie policy if suitable candidates presented themselves.
