Vegas adventures pt. 1: Catchng up

My first 2 days in Vegas were spent catching up with family and friends.

On Thursday night, I got to meet the newest addition to the plethora of kitty cats that live at my dad's house. My stepmom called her Clementine, and my dad called her Shorty:
cutest. kitten. ever.
An aunt who I haven't seen in years happened to be in town for a conference, so we had a chance to catch up, and after she related the story of falling off a ladder and breaking her patella (ack!!!), I learned something* of great importance:

Never let anyone tell you about how they injured their knee. At best you'll cringe slightly and wince when you hear the story, at worst, you'll want to pass out.

On Friday, I had lunch with my oldest and dearest friend, McQ, at Margaritaville. The food was great and the frozen margaritas were the smoothest I have ever had. It was like drinking a cloud. Seriously. On the way out, she showed me her new car, a superswank minivan with every bell and whistle you can think of.
Me: I can't believe you got a minivan! You only have one kid!
McQ:It's an Ultimate Adventure Vehicle
Me: Oh..Does it have seat warmers?
McQ: Yeah. It has everything
Me: Wow

Later, I had dinner with a high school friend, Y (who wasn't going to the reunion), and her kids, aged 6 and <1. The kids were cracking me up, the 6 year old was literally in my face trying to get my attention while I was talking to her mother. At one point, she brought out all of her food toys for us to play with and for her little brother to chew. In the pile of toys was a yellow blob. I was told it was cheese, but I couldn't find anything for the cheese to go on or in or under. Is this where American children's toys have headed? Plastic recreations of a blob of melted cheese? I put it on the couch to take a picture of it, and Y says to me, "What are you doing? At least put it on a plate!"

It is good to know there are still some bastions of order in the world...

By the end of the visit, I was beat, so instead of going to the pre-reunion mixer at a local bar, I went back to the hotel to rest up for the next day.

Coming up in Part 2: Day 1 of Vegoose and the reunion!

*besides don't fall off ladders

It looks like butter. Very big butter for very big, buttery toast.
