I thought it would be cool to catch up with Sarah for a bit and have Angrynerdsrock meet Santestperson, so we decided to meet in Oklahoma City (the biggest city nearly halfway between Wichita and Arlington) for a day of fun and frolicking.
After a late start and a few thunderstorms we arrived in OK city. We dropped our stuff at the hotel, freshened up a bit, and then hit the town!
The first thing we saw was a patriotic buffalo.

My favorite part about this picture is how the Buffalo is secured to the pole with a bike lock.
Then we headed into Bricktown (No brick fights occured in Bricktown) for some drinks! We wandered about the town, where there was a festival of some sort going on. I think it was a celebration of the five senses or the human body, and the hearing/ear fans were out of control!!

As our search for a drinking venue continued, we noticed that the sky looked rather ominous.

We decided to get under cover quickly, and went to a little cantina with a covered balcony to get some margaritas. The chips were horrible, the salsa was watery and had no spice, and the queso was also watery and bland. I had been spoiled by the previous days' bounty of fantastic tex-mex food (I have missed good tex-mex!), so my judgement may have been skewed. Also, they were all free, so I reckon we got what we paid for.
The margaritas, on the other hand, were OFF THE HOOK! Amazing!
Shortly after we ordered or drinks, the rain began, and shortly after that, we realized that the canopy on the deck where we were sitting was not designed for all weather use. We moved to a table closer to the building, but still outside, and had to strategically place ourselves and our drinks in places where no water was dripping. By this time we had all finished our large margaritas and had started on our second, small margaritas, so we didn't mind.

We moved on from the cantina in search of more drinks and perhaps some sort of dinner. We ended up at a brew pub, I drank my daily requirement of Shiner Bock, and then we headed outside to catch some fireworks and then get back to the hotel.

We got back to the hotel, and noticed that we had a nice view of the city and a couple more firework displays in different parts of town. We also discovered that our 11th floor window could open out into the world! Augh! I was incredibly freaked out by this. Augh! Danger! I commented on the dangers of this on the room's comment card.
We secured the window, and ordered a few more cocktails from room service. After 40 minutes, we inquired as to the status of our beverage order, and found out that our order had been "misplaced". Apparently the hotel bar had a massive influx of customers after the fireworks ended and our order was put at the bottom of the pile. A manager explained the situation to us and offered profuse apologies, our order for free, free breakfast coupons, and small bottles of champagne and wine for our troubles. It was pretty awesome. I commented on the spectacular service of the night manager on the room's comment card.
We enjoyed the champagne, but there was no corkscrew in the room for the wine. So, we took that home as a souvenir.
Good times in OK city.

You forgot the part where being as classy as we are, we spit out the window of our 11th floor hotel. Repeatedly.
Also I don't think the picture of the deck could ever capture the moment as well as the picture of T-diddy holding the take home carton over her head to keep out the rain (that is till she realized she could just move her chair).
I still think that while we were starting to get a little rowdy for a family environment, we so should have stayed for a 3rd margarita. Theys was damn good yo.
OMG! Thats right! This means I actually read your blog! Holey shite!
I am shocked, awed, and thrilled that you read this! Yay C-note!
We are nothing, if not classy. This is true. Spit contests and all.
The to-go container was quite ingenious.
We totally should have stayed for a 3rd Margarita!
