Space Pants (BVE, day 6, pt. 2)

After the long day at the races, sanestperson and I went to a local bar to decompress from the day and hang out with some adults.

Toward the end of the night, I decided to head to the ladies room before they started kicking everyone out of the bar. As I was making my way to the back of the bar, a guy stopped me and said something.

Mr. Guy: garblednoisemumblenonsense space pants on mumblenonsense
Me: *pause, laugh a little, and give a strange look*
Me: Did you just ask me if I had space pants on?

At this point Mr. Guy, and a couple of his friends start laughing hysterically, and I am also highly amused. Their laughter made me think that perhaps Mr. Guy had said something along the lines of "what time is it?" and I was way off base with the space pants thing, so the conversation continued with Mr. Guy's friend.

Me: Seriously, did he just ask me if I had space pants on? Because sometimes I don't hear things right and it's always funny but I gotta know what he actually said.
Mr. Guy's Friend: What he said was 'Do you have space panties on? Because you're out of this world."
Me: Really? You gotta be kidding me. I gotta pee. We can talk about this later, I'll catch you on the flip side.

Luckily while I was in the bathroom they started kicking everyone out of the bar, so I did not get a chance to talk to Mr. Guy about what the hell was he thinking with a line like that.

But I now have a new catch phrase for any time someone says something to me that doesn't quite make sense or some guy gives me a lame pickup line.
"Did you just ask me if I have space pants on?"

It also doubles as a cheer for my softball team.
"Did you guys put your space pants on? Because you're out of this world!"
