spermtacular failure

Yesterday was the welcome reception for incoming graduate students.

It was quite an exciting affair, with much free food and games.

One of the games was "pin the sperm on the egg".

I decided to give it a shot, no pun intended.*

And behold!

bad aim

See that blue one? The one that is WAY off the mark? No, not that one. The one that looks like it wants to go out the window. Let's take a look from a different angle.

Can you see it now? It couldn't be more off the mark unless it was out of the room, which it almost was.

That's MY spermatocyte.

Yeah, I know. I am SO lucky that my gamete is the one that just has to sit there, snuggly ensconced in its follicle. Because, obviously, my sperm would rather jump out a window than hook up with the egg.

I wonder if it's a sign that I shouldn't have children. At least not at the moment.
It's either that or I've been single WAY, WAY to long.

*That's a lie, I totally intended that.
