The defense was the 8th, 08-08-08, an auspicious date indeed!
The talk went pretty well, and was so grateful to have my parents as well as some fabulous friends to cheer me on.
The talk was good, and the grilling session with the committe after the public talk went surprisingly well, given that my mind felt like it was going totally blank every time they started asking a question. I think the toughest one was "if your work was on the front page of the times tomorrow, what would the headline be?" A great question, and I couldn't really give a good answer.
This week I will be frantically trying to get the revisions that my committee wants done and finish up my last manuscript for publication, get rid of the bulk of my possessions and drive across the country.
