Viva Los Beefalos!!

About a week before I left the U.S. I had the chance to see my favorite band, the Unpronounceable.

I have such a great time at their shows, the music is fabulous and the guys in the band are very cool, so I was thrilled to see them one last time before my extended absence. It was also great to hang out with my friends (some of whom I don't normally see other than at the Unpronounceable shows) once more before I left!

Plus, I had knit them all hats (I had promised last winter that hats would arrive in winter '05)!!!

A couple of the guys were caught in traffic getting to the show, so they opened with an acoustic set with just Jorge and Chip Beefalo singing some countrified slow blues that goes straight to the soul. Later, Chet and Charlemagne Beefalo arrived and the band and set up and played a short set altogether (again fantastic!).

I gave them all thier hats, which they loved, and requested a song to commemorate my journey.

Mid-way through the second set, they all put on their hats, and Jorge said into the mike "This is a little song that proves that bribery works", and proceded to play their amazing cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine". I was elated! I was so happy that I approached a Boy* that I have seen at a few of their past shows and introduced myself, using the hats as a conversation starter. When the song was over, they wished me luck on my journey and quipped about how the toilets flush the other way down here**.

Of course, I took several pictures.

sigh. I will miss them while I am away.

Viva Los Beefalos!!!

*The Unpronounceable are my first test of whether a boy can be upgraded to a Boy. I have plans for them to play at my wedding, so if a guy doesn't like my favorite band, it's a total deal-breaker. Thus, cute boy fans of the band have a head start over the rest of the population.

**which they don't
