Friday will be my next farewell luncheon, and it is to have an international theme, with everyone bringing a dish from their home country. We have quite a mix of cultures in the lab group, so it should prove to be delicious. But it leads me to wonder...
What would be the quintessential American dish?
Since my revelations last week, my first thought was to bring peanut and jam sandwiches. But since when I mention that idea, people look at me as if I am intending to bring dog shit on a cracker, I think I may not.
Actually, that's a lie. I will likely bring some PB&J sammiches, but only a few cut into small pieces just so people could at least TRY it. Besides since the lunch is for me, I don't think I am actually expected to bring anything, I just want to.
I also thought of finding a McDonalds and picking up a bunch of crap from there, since that was another common American meal that came to mind.
But niether of these suit me, and I am at a loss. Apple pie is here and common, so it is out.
So I am opening it up to the peanut gallery. Suggestions?
