ice is bringing me down

I was meant to go to New York tonight to see one of my favorite bands, the Cat Empire. We bought the tickets weeks ago, and Frogweiler and I were so excited!

Then the stupid winter storm hit and so we were faced with 2 choices

1) skip out on the show
2) run the risk of dying on the road

It was tough, because at the time we were to leave PA, the snow wasn't too bad, either in PA or NY. And, had the forecast called for snow all night, I am sure that we would be jumping up and down and dancing to Sly at this very moment. But, the weather people predicted snow changing to sleet and freezing rain throughout the night. And, as luck would have it, the timing of the dreaded wintry mix would land during our return trip.

So I've stayed home, and missed the show, and I keep telling myself that even though there isn't really THAT much snow on the ground at the moment (maybe 2 inches, maybe), that over that snow is a hard shiny coating of ice, which is bad.

Damn you ice! How can something I love so much in my beverages be so mean to me on the roads? Why, ice? Why?

I can only take comfort in the fact that I will have a snow day tomorrow, giving me a chance to relax and get the house clean, and that the Cat Empire will surely become wildly, wildly popular in the U.S. (as they already are in Australia) and they will come back and tour again and again and again.

Keep warm eveyrone, watch out for freezing rain!
